1. Launch the FaceTime app on your computer.

Click on the FaceTime icon in your computer program dock, or from Launchpad, to start up the program.

2. In the text box, type in the name, phone number, or email address of the contact you want to call through FaceTime.

In the text box at the top of the window that appears, type in your contact’s name, email address, or phone number. Remember that in order for you to be able to reach them, they have to have an Apple device with their own app enabled.

3. Click the Video Camera to start a video chat, or the Phone icon to begin an audio call.

To make a video call to the contact you’ve selected, click on the Video Camera beside their name. If you just want to make an audio call (without video), click on the Phone icon.

4. Wait for your friend to answer your call!

While your call is being made, you’ll see the word “Dialing” appear on your screen. Once your friend has accepted your call, you’ll see the word “Connecting.” If they don’t answer, you will be notified that your friend was not available.
